Solution to intermittent failure of Land Rover steering wheel control switch

Vehicles involved: Land Rover Range Rover, Land Rover Range Rover Sport, Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, Land Rover Discovery 4, Land Rover Freelander 2.
Fault content: Some of the above vehicles occasionally have the situation that the multi-function control buttons on the steering wheel cannot be used.
After investigation, it is due to the oxidation of the line connector due to electric shock, which affects the signal transmission. It needs to be cleaned and protective measures are taken to eliminate the fault.
Remove the airbag unit of the steering wheel, unplug and plug all the wiring harness connectors on the steering wheel several times to clean and eliminate the oxidized parts, then apply electrical switch lubricant to the contact parts of the wiring harness connector, wipe off the excess lubricant with a paper towel, and finally reconnect the connector and restore the steering wheel in the previous disassembly order. Test the multi-function buttons on the steering wheel, confirm that the fault has been eliminated, and deliver the vehicle to the customer.
