Complaint: Driver/front passenger seat has noise
- When adjusting the seat
- When the seat back is loaded
- When driving in a corner, the noise comes from the seat cushion frame area
- When sitting in the driver’s seat, the noise comes from the side area of the backrest
Cause:
- The seat trim scrapes against the seat rail of the seat height adjustment device
- Contact with the upper rivet between the backrest trim and the backrest frame
- The guide of the seat belt end has relative movement, causing other parts to move, resulting in noise
- The rubber wool pad is too soft in the upper backrest area, causing the backrest support to bend when the side support is loaded, and pulling the side wings of the support inward.
Remedy:
Tip: To avoid repeated repairs, regardless of the single complaint that caused the fault, all the operations listed must be combined and performed thoroughly on the driver and front passenger seats!
- Remove the seat trim mounting according to AR91.10-P-1200LF. Shorten the seat trim mounting by 10 mm. Assemble in reverse order.
- Remove the backrest trim. Glue the felt to the rivets on the left and right sides as shown in the picture. The felt must cover the rivets and the excess must be glued outwards. Caution: The felt must not touch or block the elastic band as shown in the picture. Assemble in reverse order.
- Apply synthetic grease between the EVO pretensioner support pins on the toothed sash and the seat belt buckle. Make sure that the synthetic grease is applied neatly in front of and behind the axle and between the pins.
- Felt for the side walls of the backrest fabric support: Cut the felt strips to a length of 260 mm. Glue them side by side without wrinkles! – Glue the felt strips continuously along the side walls flush with the contour – Be careful not to let the felt strips curl inwards. Make sure that the felt strips are wrinkle- The felt strips must be pressed well into the contour. – The result must look as shown in the picture.
