Turn on the ignition switch and park the vehicle on a level surface. The headlights can be turned on or off. 55-04-001 (basic setting) is equivalent to telling the vehicle control unit that the vehicle is level and the current position is the default horizontal position. At this time, the headlight height can be adjusted to a height that complies with regulations through the headlight adjustment screw.
(1) Function of the headlight range adjustment control unit Audi sedans equipped with ambience lamps may affect the vision of oncoming drivers due to their high brightness. Therefore, vehicles equipped with ambience lamps must be equipped with an automatic height adjustment function. That is, the standard height of the ambience lamps must be adjusted when leaving the factory, and then the height of the headlights must be automatically adjusted according to the vehicle load distribution. If the front of the vehicle is high and the rear is low, the headlights must be raised to ensure sufficient vision for the driver; if the rear of the vehicle is low and the front is raised (the rear seat is too heavy or there are too many heavy objects in the luggage compartment), the lights must be automatically lowered to prevent affecting the oncoming vehicles. Therefore, vehicles equipped with ambient lights have added a headlamp range adjustment control unit J431, with an address code of 55, located behind the glove box on the front passenger side.
(2) Basic settings and matching Audi A6 sedans. When the vehicle leaves the factory, J431 stores the current front and rear horizontal position sensor positions and regards them as the default horizontal position. When the front and rear body tilt angles change, the system determines the body tilt angle based on the voltages of the front and rear sensors G76 and G78, and instructs the left and right headlamp motors V48 and V49 to make corresponding adjustments. After replacing the headlamps, front and rear sensors, or disconnecting the corresponding plugs, an alarm will appear on the instrument panel, and the headlamp adjustment control unit will store a fault code of “Basic settings not completed”, which means that the control unit needs to relearn the default horizontal position. Turn on the ignition switch, park the vehicle on a level surface, and the headlamps can be turned on or off. 55-04-001 (basic settings) is equivalent to informing the vehicle control unit that the vehicle is level and the current position is the default horizontal position. At this time, the headlamp height can be adjusted to a height that complies with regulations through the headlamp adjustment screws. 55-04-002 (Storage setting) is equivalent to informing the vehicle control unit that the default height of the light has been adjusted, and the current body tilt sensor position and the corresponding motor position are stored. At this time, you can see that the vehicle headlights will run from low to high and return to the original position to complete the storage. At this time, the basic setting is completed, the fault code is automatically cleared, and the alarm disappears.
(3) Determine whether the vehicle is level. The prerequisite for the system to perform basic headlight settings is “body level”, that is, if the system determines that the vehicle is not level based on the front and rear tilt sensors, it is not allowed to proceed to the next step. It may be that the body is level when observed by the naked eye, but due to the sensor installation position, suspension aging and other reasons, the conclusion fed back to the control unit by the sensor is not level. You can read 55-08-002 (Determine whether the vehicle is level) for inspection. Zone I is the front sensor voltage, and zone II is the rear sensor voltage. When level, both should be around 2.5V. If the suspension is raised, the voltage value increases, and if the body is lowered, the voltage decreases. If the front and rear difference exceeds 0.5 V, the system believes that the body has pitch.
Execution setting method:
1) Lift the vehicle and check the sensor installation position and fixed connection device.
2) While executing 05-08-002, lift or press down the suspension that deviates from 2.5V, so that both voltages are around 2.5V, and perform basic settings.
