Description of the BMW E70/E71 Sedan EMF Light Illumination Failure
Vehicles involved: BMW E70/E71 Sedan, manufactured between October 1, 2006 and September 1, 2009.
Failure phenomenon: The EMF indicator light of the electromechanical parking brake is on, the EMF function fails, and the relevant fault code is stored in the system.
Failure cause: The cable/wire pin leading to the EMF servo unit is damaged.
Wire harness plug X10375
Countermeasures: Wire diagnosis has been integrated into the test plan of the dedicated fault diagnosis instrument. When the EMF function fails, the test plan must be executed. If the diagnostic result recommends wire detection or no result is obtained, please check the pins on the wire harness plug X10375 (attached picture) to check whether the pins are stretched or pushed back, or whether there is interference friction between the line and the air conditioning pipe.
