Vehicles involved: BMW 5 Series with development sequence F18 and N55 engine. Fault content: For some of the above vehicles, the transmission oil coolant pipe may be in the wrong position. This may cause interference and friction between the pipe and the engine belt, causing the belt to break or break within a short mileage, resulting in the generator and air conditioning system not working.
Required measures: Check the position of the transmission oil coolant pipe and replace the coolant pipe and belt if necessary.
Repair method: Check the position of the transmission oil coolant pipe. If the pipe position is as shown in Figure 1, the coolant pipe is installed correctly and no further inspection and repair are required. The vehicle can be delivered directly to the user.
If the pipe position is as shown in Figure 2, the coolant pipe is installed incorrectly and needs to be disassembled and reassembled to make it in the correct position. Please make sure that pipe 1 is below pipe 2 and that pipe 1 is about 30 mm away from the air conditioning compressor pulley. If the coolant pipe and belt are found to have interfered when reinstalling the pipe, the coolant pipe and belt must be replaced.
