Mercedes-Benz Model Series (BR) 222 Rear headrests hit the rear shelf or there is noise between the rear seat backrest and the C-pillar trim

Complaint: Noise due to the rear seat backrest cover rubbing against the C-pillar trim or noise due to the rear headrests hitting the real wood trim strip on the rear shelf.

Cause: Component tolerances are too small.
Remedy:

1. Remove the rear seat cushion on the side affected by the noise
2. Slightly loosen the bolt connection of the lower rear seat backrest (T45 hexagon socket bolt to the door sill and T45 hexagon socket bolt + M10 nut to the vehicle tunnel)
3. Grasp the upper part of the rear seat backrest, pull forward (the play in the lower pivot point changes from rear to front) and then fix it in the front position
4. Tighten the 3 rotation points in the rear seat backrest position in the front position with a torque of 35 Nm
5. Reinstall the removed rear seat cushion.
6. Gently apply special lubricant to the side wings of the rear seat backrest covers and the side wings of the rear seat headrest covers (to the C-pillar trim).
